Fremantle Arts Centre: Memory Walls

DMARts have teamed up with the Fremantle Arts Centre, Screen West and local digital creatives and developers to embark on an ambitious challenge to try and invent a unique new way of narrative storytelling through the medium of Augmented Reality (AR) in a project entitled ‘Memory Walls’.

In January 2011 an unassuming old tin shed sitting in the grounds of the Fremantle Arts Centre was demolished and along with it went the last vestige of an extraordinary and little known relationship between Fremantle and America during WWII when Freo became home to thousands of American and Allied troops who were stationed in the ‘Top Secret’ US Naval base which was used as a launch pad for secret submarine missions in the ‘Battle of Australia’.

Josh is the Sound Designer for the flagship Augmented Reality project at the Fremantle Arts Centre, produced by Digital Media Arts.
